The following is a short list of Dr. Sjoberg’s most impactful offerings. For information about her other keynotes and workshops, or for more information about the ones listed here, please reach out to meredith@meredithsjobergphd.com
- Get Your Teen Talking
- If you find that you only get one-word answers or shut out entirely when trying to talk with a teen, you are not alone. In this workshop, Dr. Sjoberg shares her tried-and-true, evidenced-based strategies for getting teens to open up. She also shares the actual questions and phrases she uses to put teens at ease and show them that she is truly listening.
- When to Be Worried
- Many parents and educators aren’t sure what is “typical” teen behavior and what is something more serious. In this workshop, we explore some helpful guidelines for telling the difference. And we discuss what to do if it does seem that worry is appropriate. Dr. Sjoberg includes specific questions to ask and follow up to pursue to make sure teens are supported in the best way possible.
- How to Prevent Burnout in Teens
- Many high-achieving teens are getting messages that they must do “all the things” – take high level courses, be in extra-curriculars, have a passion, prep for standardized tests, get all As, and make it all look easy. In this workshop, Dr. Sjoberg breaks down common myths and misunderstandings about all this pressure. She discusses what teens truly need and how they can still reach for the stars while taking care of themselves.
- Why Our Teens Need Us
- Keynote that serves as a reminder that how we show up for the teens in our life matters. Bringing optimism and a sense of joy, Dr. Sjoberg shares anecdotes from her decades of counseling that show how small, bite-sized moments with teens are hugely impactful, proving that you don’t need to be perfectly present at all times to matter in the life of a teen.
- Building Emotional Resilience in Your Teen
- Being able to name, identify, tolerate, move through, and express emotions is critical in our lives. For many teens, this is something that must be explicitly taught. In this workshop, Dr. Sjoberg guides participants in how to help teens develop these skills. And the not so secret best part is that participants come away with tips and strategies that are directly helpful to them as well.
- Your Teen is NOT the Problem
- We can get caught up in blaming a teen for the “way they are.” Or, if not for how they ARE, for what they DO. In this workshop, Dr. Sjoberg offers a powerful reframe that allows participants to be collaborators and co-problem-solvers instead of “correctors.”
- Suicide Prevention for Parents
- Dr. Sjoberg tackles one of the scariest topics for parents in this presentation. She offers tangible, specific ways to support teens who may be thinking about suicide. She offers ways for parents to stay calm, dial in, and move through tough conversations with their teens. It has been helpful and transformative for many families.
