Therapy for Parents
Speaking and Workshops

I support adults who spend time with teens and young adults. My goal is to empower them with bite-sized therapeutic strategies to improve confidence, problem-solving, and resilience.

Teenagers and young adults have a lot going on. And if you’re raising one or teaching one, you know the challenges are real. They may be struggling with motivation or procrastination, they may be stressed or burnt out. They may feel like all you do is criticize them and they push you away. You might be arguing a lot even though you’re just trying to help them become happy, healthy adults.

You aren’t meant to figure it out on your own.
This is where I come in.

One-on-One Online Therapy

I work with parents of teens and young adults, especially when they are in some type of transition. This can include leaving home and going to college, but can also include relationship loss, family divorce, significant injuries/illness, and other big life events. I work with estrangement as well.

Speaking & Workshops

I design and facilitate research-informed workshops and trainings for parent-focused groups, educators, and anyone who interacts with teens on a regular basis. Topics include communication, getting teens talking, building problem-solving and resilience, and emotional coping.

Consultation with Schools & Organizations

I consult with various school teams – at the high school or college level – and administrators, on supporting the mental health of their students. This work is highly individualized and customizable. Work can be virtual or in-person.

I am a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience providing workshops, therapy, and consultation. I have a compassionate, empathic, and open-minded approach that allows you to learn tools for communicating well, gain skills for navigating tough moments, and feel GOOD about the choices you make when you engage with teens. People I work with find that I am eager to understand and get to know them. And that my style allows them to be vulnerable, ask questions, and get the support they need to show up for the teens in their lives.

When our values inform our decisions as a parent we can feel good about the choices we make. When I work with parents we spend time getting clear on what the top values are that they want guiding their decisions. Everything becomes easier from there - especially when things are complex. When we can zoom out to think about our values as a family, to consider what our capacity and our teen’s capacity is, and to focus on safety and well-being, we have an easier time picking which “battles to fight”. I prefer to say which “boundaries to hold” because it suggests more of a collaboration with a loved one than a fight with an enemy. And that might be part of it. But first we have to get the brain back online before we can move into problem solving mode. Productivity is awesome. But it does not dictate our worthiness. Full stop. Which means that grinding, burning the candle at both ends, going b*lls to the wall at all times - whatever you want to call it - does not make someone better than someone else.
